Details for Ear Surgery Patient 36220
DescriptionAs long as he could remember, this is pleasant, 70-year-old retired male had always been embarrassed by his prominent ears. When he was younger, he did not have the financial resources to have them corrected. Now, at age 70 he has the financial resources to afford the surgery. Under IV sedation as an outpatient, he underwent correction of both prominent ears, also known as otoplasty. The cartilage of the ear was contoured with sutures to reduce the flaring. In addition, a small amount of cartilage was removed. The incisions were placed on front and behind the ear. His result at six weeks shows an excellent improvement in the shape of the ears. He has good symmetry, and the scars are already starting to fade nicely. The ears are much closer to the sides of the head, and he couldn’t be happier.
