Details for Rhinoplasty Patient 54245
Description
This 27-year-old professional dancer wanted to change the shape of the nasal tip. He did not like the droopy appearance of the tip, but he was happy with the other aspects of his nose shape. He had no problems breathing through his nose. He was happy with the width of the nose. He did want the tip rotated upward a small amount. He underwent rhinoplasty under general anesthesia as an outpatient. The muscles attaching to the base of the nose were released so that when he smiled, it did not bring down the tip of his nose. The shape of the tip was made more narrow by using permanent sutures. Additional support to the tip was added by using a piece of cartilage from the septum. The result was a tip that was not droopy and had better support and shape. His photographs six weeks after the surgery show a nice improvement in the shape of the tip. The droopy tip has been corrected fully. The tip looks in excellent balance to the nose and the rest of the face. His breathing through the nostrils has even improved. These photographs six weeks after the surgery show his early result. Over the next several months, additional swelling in the tip will settle down.
