There are many different approaches to facial rejuvenation. Surgical options include facelifts, eyelid surgery, and brow lifts, while non-invasive treatments include chemical peels, injectables, and laser skin resurfacing treatments.
Facelift results typically last a long time, roughly a decade or so, in comparison to the temporary and short-lived effects of non-surgical procedures. Having a facelift, however, isn’t a reason to lessen your attention to your general skin care. At our practice, we encourage post-facelift patients to take the following steps to help their facelift results last longer:
Avoid prolonged sun exposure. If time spent outdoors is necessary, apply sunscreen and wear protective clothing.
Keep yourself hydrated particularly during the warmer months. Your body’s hydration status will be reflected largely on your skin, the largest organ of the body. When you’re dehydrated, your skin will appear dry and flaky.
Nourish yourself with foods that are close to their natural and least processed forms possible. Leafy greens, avocados, salmon, dark chocolate, sweet potatoes, and brightly colored fruits are skin-nourishing foods.
Get enough sleep and rest. Sleep is your body’s way of regenerating itself from the inside out. Cell regeneration and collagen production happens during deep sleep. The more well rested you are, the more time you’re giving your body to increase cell turnover and collagen levels. Collagen plays a crucial role in keeping your skin plump, firm, and taut.
Keep your weight stable, as weight fluctuations make your skin lose elasticity.
Enhance facelift results with non-surgical facial rejuvenation alternatives such as Botox, fillers, and laser resurfacing treatments.
