What is a Brow Lift or Forehead Lift?
The expression of a person’s eyes is the most powerful means of telling what a person feels. As we age, the forehead and eyebrow tissues descend and hood along the upper ridge of the eye which results to a tired or sometimes angry expression. A brow lift or a forehead lift for our patients in Oklahoma City, OK will do wonders to correct this condition and can be performed in combination with other cosmetic procedures like an eyelid lift for a more youthful and refreshed appearance.
A brow lift will benefit patients if they have sagging or low eyebrows and if they have horizontal creases on the forehead. A brow lift is also a perfect treatment alternative for patients with frown lines between the eyebrows. For patients who have genetically low brows and deep, frown lines can also consider having a brow lift.
Still not convinced that a brow lift is best for you? Look into the mirror and lift your eyebrow and forehead towards your hairline and see the difference that a brow lift can do for your face. Our patients are raving about the results of their brow lift. This can instantly take years off your face and dramatically change your appearance.
Brow Lift Consultation
Each brow lift treatment that we provide in our surgical office is customized for each patient. During consultation, a complete run down of a patient’s medical history and a series of tests will be made to ensure that a patient is in good health and fit to receive a brow lift treatment. We encourage our patients to be open about what they want to achieve with the procedure and any apprehensions that they may have.
Brow Lift Procedure
Prior to the brow lift procedure, patients will be given instructions on preparation for the surgery which must be strictly followed to ensure the success of the procedure. A brow lift is performed on an outpatient basis and the procedure typically lasts for 2 to 3 hours. Since each case is different, we use several brow lift techniques for our patients as shown below:
- Coronal brow lift – this technique used for traditional brow lifts. An incision will be made across the top scalp running along the ears, very close to the hairline to make it inconspicuous. From here, repairs will be made to the underlying muscles and the excess skin will be removed. The eyebrows will be repositioned to achieve a more youthful appearance.
- Endoscopic brow lift – this is often used for younger patients and uses smaller incisions along the forehead instead of one continuous one. Making use of an endoscope, repairs will be made to the underlying tissues and muscles to provide support.
- Transpalpebral brow lift – an incision on the upper eyelid is done to correct frown lines between the eyebrows or at the top of the nose.
- Direct and Mid Forehead brow lift – this technique results in more visible incision lines so it is not commonly used for brow enhancements.
