What is a Neck Lift Like for Patients?
Every neck lift procedure that we conduct in our Edmond, OK office starts with a consultation with our team of specialists that determines if a neck lift is perfect for you based on your medical condition as well as what you expect to see after the procedure.
A neck lift begins by an incision made under the chin or behind the patient’s ears to access the neck muscle. The muscles and the underlying tissue will be tightened to provide additional support and the excess skin will be removed to achieve a smoother neck contour.
If a well-defined neck contour can be achieved by removing excess fat, then a liposuction will be done. For optimum results, a liposuction can also be done in combination to the removal of excess skin for a thinner and smoother neck contour.
After the underlying muscles and tissues have been repaired, the excess skin will be cut off and the incisions will be closed using sutures. Patients will be provided compression bandages to wear for a month to facilitate healing.
What Can Patients Expect after a Neck Lift?
It is normal for patients to experience swelling, bruising, and pain in the treatment area. This can be managed by the pain medications that we will prescribe and should gradually disappear in a few days. Recovery from a neck lift will take longer compared to other cosmetic procedures. Patients can expect to resume work and their normal day to day activities in about 2 to 3 weeks after the procedure. The effects of a neck lift are long lasting and patients can immediately see the transformation and the restoration of their youth and well-defined neck contour.
